I want to take the time to thank you for saying yes to God’s calling…
True Identity
Our pastors at Divine Providence Training Center come to school for two weeks once a quarter for two years. The time in between each session is used for application and homework, so that all the learning can have time to really sink in and become reality in the way that they live and do ministry. Also, if the resources are available, we like to offer additional retreats and seminars.
For the past two summers, we have had the privilege of working with Jennifer Brommet of True Identity Ministries. She came to host retreats that led groups of women to discover their identity in Christ and how to free themselves from the lies the world tells them. Immediately after the retreats were finished, Jennifer had request after request from men in the towns she visited. They all asked, “Is there a True Identity for men?” Seeing the desire and need for this kind of training for men, Jennifer’s husband, Remco Brommet began praying and developing a curriculum to help reveal to the men their true identity in Christ and free them from the lies that are affecting their leadership in their families, churches, and communities.
In June, we had the privilege at Camp Chemi Chemi to host two back-to-back True Men Retreats, as well as a True Identity Retreat, led by Jennifer and Remco. They were a huge success. The two-day retreats were a time of revelation, deep soul searching and renewal of scriptural promises as Jennifer and Remco led over 45 pastors through the True Identity material. Men were overwhelmed with the love of their Savior and His purpose for them as heads of their families and leaders in their communities. This message is very much needed in Kenya where females in churches far outweigh the males and where father-son traditions and teaching are rapidly declining due to urbanization. Understanding the love of the Father for his sons, the biblical view on marriage, parenting, and servant leadership, excited and re-energized our pastors. Now that they have been through the training, they can take the True Identity message to their communities and churches, carrying on the True Identity goal to “train more trainers” so that this message of love and truth can spread across the nation of Kenya and the world.
