Answered Prayers

By the faithfulness of God, Catherine Maake and the church acquired a church plot. The Lord moved the heart of the owner of the land over which the church was started and he gave a piece of land to the church.

After the raising of a structure in the plot, the church has continued to grow by and by. At graduation of the class of 2016, which was the class in which Catherine was, she received a monetary gift. The former senior minister at Roswell United Methodist church

, the Rev. Dr. Mike Long gave a ministry gift “Dr. Mike Long follow the call award.” It is meant to encourage the pastors in following their call and serving God.

With this gift, Catherine bought some windows and doors for the church but the floor remained to be of dirt. The sides are made of iron sheet with wooden frame. They prayed that God would help them put a concrete floor on the church.

“On Sunday 18th June 2018, we had a thanksgiving service in this church. We thanked God for bringing us this far as a church plant and celebrated His faithfulness. We also prayed that God would send us some angels to help us put a concrete floor on our church. We have asked the members to give again and again, and we felt that we needed help with this,” Catherine narrates. “On that Sunday evening, teacher Steve called me and asked me how far we were with the construction of the church. I told him and he said that he wanted to pray with us that God would make that happen. I was surprised When He asked me how much money it would cost to put a concrete on the floor. I talked to a man I know who does that kind of work and then I told Steve the amount. Then on Wednesday that same week we were asked by the director (By this she was referring to Paul, the director of Divine Providence) to order for the construction materials like sand, cement and gravel and then get some people to hire to put the concrete floor. He sent us the money and today we are here putting the floor” she said.

This was possible to do because of the youth team from Myer’s Park United Methodist Church. The team raised money to help Catherine put the floor on the church. This gift may not sound like much to you, but it means a lot to Catherine and the church. To them this was an answered prayer. And not just an answered prayer, BUT A MIRACLE!! What is normal for some, to have a church with a concrete or tiled floor, or even carpeted floor, it is a miracle to someone else. That is the story of may of our pastors who have come through Divine Providence Training Center.

On Monday the 25th June 2018, the Myer’s Park United Methodist Church youth group made the trip to Isinya, in the Maasai land and for a few hours participated in the putting of a concrete floor in the church. They held hands and prayed, dedicating the foundation of the church to God and committing the pastor to God.

They shoveled concrete, mixed sand and cement and water, sung some songs in Maasai, dancing to the Maasai rhythm which many failed terribly at (smiling), and played with children painting their faces.

As the team headed back to Chemichemi, they made prayers for Catherine, her husband Patrick, Pastor Ben and his wife Sarah who are also graduates of Divine Providence and had joined the team in helping Catherine and meeting the team from Charlotte.

And this is the testimony of how God supplied, answering a prayer from this church by the means of the youth team from Myer’s Park United Methodist Church.

Will you be an answer to another church’s prayer? Or to another Pastor’s prayer?
